A new year is seen as a time for new beginnings. One area undergoing significant change is customs. The impetus is on customs authorities to modernise the demands placed upon businesses to reflect improvements in logistics and reporting through IT-driven processes, and to focus resources and attention in the right places to match the changing roles of customs authorities across the European Union. Belgium will see big changes in 2006 with the introduction of “Paperless Customs”, where a number of businesses dealing with customs will need to communicate electronically. We consider what the future holds for businesses with customs issues in the EU.
Also in this issue:
- Doing business in a changing customs environment
- New anti-avoidance rules in VAT
- Notional Interest Deduction: countdown to launch
