The opening of China's banking sector to foreign financial institutions in December 2006 is foreseen to change the competitive landscape for China's domestic banks. While the abundance of foreign investors interested in China's banking section will provide opportunities for China's domestic banks to learn from their international experience, it is important that China's domestic banks are active participants in their own reform and development.
