A new double taxation agreement (DTA) between South Africa and Ethiopia has come into force. The effective date of the DTA in respect of withholding taxes is 1 January 2007 and in respect of other taxes the treaty is effective from tax years beginning on or after 1 January 2007. The terms of this treaty will be considered in detail in the next issue of Tax News.
