- Corporate Tax Reform Window Closing Fast, Thomas Tells Tax Execs – Lobbying for specific tax breaks hurt congressional efforts to lower corporate rates across the board as part of the American Jobs Creation Act of 2004, and with lawmakers now increasingly focused on making the 2001 and 2003 tax cuts permanent, prospects for broad corporate tax reform before 2010 have dimmed substantially, according to House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Bill Thomas, R-Calif.
- PCAOB Revises Effective Date for Ethics and Independence Rules – The Public Company Accounting Oversight Board revised the effective dates for certain ethics and independence rules that it adopted in 2005.
