United Kingdom: Budget 2006 — Personal Tax Return Filing Deadline - İngiltere
Hidden in an announcement about on-line services is news that the current 31 January Self Assessment filing deadline is being brought forward to 30 September for 2007/08 paper returns and to 30 November for returns filed electronically. At the same time, computer generated substitute paper returns (commonly used by agents) will no longer be accepted. As a further incentive to early filing, the enquiry 12 month enquiry/investigation window for the tax authorities will start from the date the return is filed and not, as currently, from 31 January following the tax year end.
