Estate Tax Compromise Clears House, But Will it Fly in the Senate?

With prospects for enacting estate tax repeal this year essentially dead, the House of Representatives on June 22 voted 269-156 to approve a compromise that would retain the tax but permanently lower the rates and increase the exemption amounts.
